Players call strike for first two weeks of La Liga

The Association of Spanish Footballers (AFE) have announced a strike for the first two games of the new season due to failure on certain points in a new agreement being negotiated with the LFP concerning player payment. There have been problems over the years at many clubs with players not being paid on time and it seems the players union want to put an end to this situation once and for all. The clubs and La Liga have a week to try and sort things out, this is not the first time there has been talk of a strike in Spanish football and in recent history the games have always been played. However, this time the threat of a strike seems very real. It will be a great shame after this long wait to get back to some Liga action.
