Dani Alves breaks collarbone

More bad news for Pep Guardiola. It has been confirmed that Dani Alves broke his collarbone in training this morning and he is currently being operated on. It is still not clear how bad the break was or how long the player will need to recover, but it seems almost certain that he will miss the Copa del Rey final with Athletic Club in nine days’ time. Barça will only have Mascherano, Piqué and Adriano as first team defenders for the game, though I’m sure Martin Montoya will continue to do a good job if Pep decides to use him in a defence of four.

Here’s hoping we’ll opt for a back 4 nevertheless as well as a speedy recovery for the unfortunate Dani Alves

Broken my collar bone before and it’s a tough injury no matter which way you look at it. Even breathing is painful for the first few days. Poor guy, I wouldn’t wish it on anybody. Our defenders have had the worst luck this season….but at least he’ll have the summer to recover and hopefully we’ll see him in a blaugrana shirt again next season.
