Deulofeu signs on loan for Everton

deulofeu barçaGerard Deulofeu has today signed a one-year loan deal which will see him play in the English Premier League next season for Everton. Deulofeu is one of the brightest stars of Barça’s youth system and the 19-year-old has a contract with Barça until 2017. Last season he played four matches for the first team while scoring 18 goals in 34 appearances for Barça B in the Segunda División A.

Deulofeu’s progress at Barça has been hindered by the recent signing of Neymar. With Pedro, Alexis and Tello fighting for a place alongside Messi and Neymar it was going to be very complicated this season for the youngster to get opportunities from Tito Vilanova. A good season on Merseyside for Roberto Martinez’s team could easily be the springboard for a return to Camp Nou next summer, and who knows, we could see a front three of Deulofeu, Messi and Neymar knocking in the goals in the 2014/15 season.

I am very worried. I don’t what Rosell and his group of people are doing. They got Neymar and they think thats enough. No sense of urgency at all. Preseason will begin next week and we have nobody. We can’t have new players coming in August when the season has already started. Pique has been terrible and he’s too busy playing poker.

Villa for 2 million???? Whats the point of that? barca has never known how to buy or sell players. Thiago leaving for Bayern for such a cheap price. and whats really pissing me off is how they are selling or loaning ALL Barca B players. do they think that neymar will solve all the problems that the club has? very very worrying. and the problem is we need more than one CB, and when Thiago does leave, we will need another midfielder, because Tito has shown he does not trust the younger players.

Just look at Real Madrid, how much things have changed. look at how much they sell their players for, and the players that they are currently buying.

I think its a good idea to send Gerard to the most competitive football league. He’s clearly too good for Barca B and ATM he will hardly get any playing time in the senior side. I do hope though that he gets reasonable playing time at Everton so that he can improve his skills and return to Barca as a stronger and more confident player. With Villa, Bojan,Fontas,Gerard and Rafinha’s plying their trade elsewhere next season, only Afellay, Thiago and JDS remain among the fringe players whose future at Barca in 2013-14 remains unclear. Thiago is now being linked to Bayern after we were told he’d be signing for Man Utd this week.

@Nic: Your take on Pep’s recent outburst at Rossell?
