Barça: The Guardiola Years – out now on Kindle

book cover finalI am very proud and excited today to announce that after nearly eighteen months work I have finally finished my book, Barça: The Guardiola Years. As it was the quickest option the first edition is an e-book which is available now on Amazon. I am hoping to have a paperback edition out soon and I’ll obviously let you all know when that comes out.

I am of course aware that some very good books on Barça have been written recently by the likes of Graham Hunter, Sid Lowe and Guillem Balagué. However, each book covers different angles and while these excellent journalists have a lot of insider information which helps understand behind-the-scenes affairs and personalities I have tried to concentrate mainly on what happened on the field of play.

When I decided to write the book a friend advised me to write the book for myself and that is what I’ve tried to do. That is, I’ve written the book for a Barça fan who already knows most of the background information but who wants to relive the goals and the games of that incredible era. Barça: The Guardiola Years tells the story from start to finish of those four amazing seasons with Pep Guardiola as first-team coach, giving special attention to 10 matches from each of those seasons. Just for the record the games I chose to form the chapters of the book are as follows:

From the 2008/09 season: CHAPTER 1 – Hibernian 0 Barça 6, CHAPTER 2 – Barça 6 Atlético Madrid 1, CHAPTER 3 – Barça 2 Real Madrid 0, CHAPTER 4 – Barça 5 Deportivo de La Coruña 0, CHAPTER 5 – Barça 5 Olympique Lyon 2, CHAPTER 6 – Barça 4 Bayern Munich 0, CHAPTER 7 – Real Madrid 2 Barça 6, CHAPTER 8 – Chelsea 1 Barça 1, CHAPTER 9 – Athletic Club 1 Barça 4, CHAPTER 10 – Barça 2 Manchester United 0.

2009/10: CHAPTER 11 – Barça 1 Shakhtar Donetsk 0, CHAPTER 12 – Barça 6 Zaragoza 1, CHAPTER 13 – Barça 1 Real Madrid 0, CHAPTER 14 – Barça 2 Estudiantes 1, CHAPTER 15 – Barça 4 Sevilla 0, CHAPTER 16 – Zaragoza 2 Barça 4, CHAPTER 17 – Barça 4 Arsenal 1, CHAPTER 18 – Real Madrid 0 Barça 2, CHAPTER 19 – Barça 1 Inter Milan 0, CHAPTER 20 – Sevilla 2 Barça 3.

2010/11: CHAPTER 21 – Barça 4 Sevilla 0, CHAPTER 22 – Barça 5 Panathinaikos 1, CHAPTER 23 – Barça 5 Sevilla 0, CHAPTER 24 – Barça 3 Villarreal 1, CHAPTER 25 – Barça 5 Real Madrid 0, CHAPTER 26 – Espanyol 1 Barça 5, CHAPTER 27 – Valencia 0 Barça 1, CHAPTER 28 – Barça 5 Shakhtar Donetsk 1, CHAPTER 29 – Real Madrid 0 Barça 2, CHAPTER 30 – Barça 3 Manchester United 1.

2011/12: CHAPTER 31 – Barça 3 Real Madrid 2, CHAPTER 32 – Barça 8 Osasuna 0, CHAPTER 33 – AC Milan 2 Barça 3, CHAPTER 34 – Real Madrid 1 Barça 3, CHAPTER 35 Santos 0 Barça 4, CHAPTER 36 – Real Madrid 1 Barça 2, CHAPTER 37 – Barça 7 Bayer Leverkusen 1, CHAPTER 38 – Barça 5 Granada 3, CHAPTER 39 – Barça 2 Chelsea 2, CHAPTER 40 – Barça 3 Athletic Club 0.

Finally, there is an epilogue which covers Tito Vilanova’s season in charge up until the signing of Tata Martino.

I confess I’ve always liked to do things my own way which is why I decided to self-publish the book on the newly created Barçacentral Press. The downside of this of course is I have no big publicity machine behind me to help sell the book, and for this reason I’d like to ask all my dear readers for some support. You could help to spread the word on other Barça blogs and forums that you use or you could post about it on Facebook, Twitter or any other social media. A retweet of my tweet or any other help would be greatly appreciated, while the best of all would be some positive customer reviews on Amazon.

Many thanks for all your help. I sincerely hope you enjoy the book as much as I enjoyed writing it.

Really, really, really cool. We’ve sneakily come a long long way.

I’m not an e-book guy so I’ll wait for the paperback version.

I’m afraid at the moment it’s only on Kindle, Right now I need a couple of days rest but I’m hoping that printing the paperback will be very quick. I wasn’t a Kindle person either but it does seem to be the future. Maybe this is a good moment to get one 🙂

Also as a friend just pointed out, you can get a Kindle App for Ipad if that’s any help,
